Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a replacement for Figma?

It may be for some, but not in professional environments. Napukin was created for making low to medium fidelity wireframes on the go or on your computer. If you need advanced prototyping, design systems, or team collaboration features, Figma is still the better choice. Napukin is for those times when you want to quickly sketch out an idea without opening a full design suite.

Is Napukin free?

Yes. Napukin is completely free to use with no subscription fees, no accounts, and no usage limits.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Napukin is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Once you've visited the site, you can install it and use it without an internet connection. All your work is saved locally on your device.

Where are my files saved?

Your documents are stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB via auto-save. You can also save and open .npkd files — the open-source file format used by Napukin. Files never leave your device unless you explicitly export or share them.

What is the .npkd file format?

The .npkd format is an uncompressed ZIP archive containing JSON documents and embedded image assets. It's designed to be simple, readable, and version-control friendly. See the full specification for details.

Can I export to Figma?

Yes. Napukin can export your designs to Figma's native .fig binary format, so you can continue refining your wireframes in Figma.

What devices does it support?

Napukin is mobile-first and works on any modern browser — phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. For the best experience, install it as a PWA from your browser.

Do I need an account?

No. Napukin requires no sign-up, no login, and no cloud connection. Everything runs locally in your browser.

What browsers are supported?

Napukin works best in Chrome, Edge, and Safari. It should also work in Firefox and other Chromium-based browsers. PWA installation is supported in Chrome, Edge, and Safari (iOS/macOS).
